About The Event
We have great pleasure in inviting you to our next meeting:
The Sixth Annual Professor Peter Gilbert Memorial Lecture
to be held on Wednesday 18th November 2020 at 6.30 pm, entitled
Something inside so strong: How do we draw from the well deep within?
presented by The Rt Revd Rose Hudson-Wilkin MBE, QHC.
Please read her reflections below on the topic.
As a woman of African descent, born and brought up in the Caribbean, I am consciously aware of my history and the history of the people that I belong to. I know that I am from a strong people who have endured much, a people who were freedom fighters, Kings & Queens. I know that my people came from a continent that is one of the richest in natural resources. All this has given me the kind of foundation to build on. But what if this knowledge was hidden from you and all you saw and heard was negative? How might we respond differently to the circumstances that we find ourselves in today; staying connected to that something inside that is so strong? I am hoping to reflect on some of these issues with you at the lecture.
The Rt Revd Rose Hudson-Wilkin MBE, QHC, is currently the Bishop of Dover. Her previous post was the Chaplain to the Houses of Parliament.
The event is free of charge. However, a small donation will be appreciated.
Please click on the link to register your interest in attending the online event. The Zoom connection details will then be forwarded to all those wishing to participate just prior to Wednesday 18th November.
